Ackerman Responds To Today's Budget Actions

Today, Senate Republican Leader Dick Ackerman (R-Tustin) issued the following statement regarding the budget:

“In January the Senate Republicans called for a balanced budget. In February, when the budget sub-committees met, the Senate Republicans called for a balanced budget. Throughout the Spring, Senate Republicans called for a balanced budget. When the May Revise was issued Senate Republicans called for a balanced budget. During the conference committee and throughout the budget negotiations, Senate Republicans called for a balanced budget.

“But now in the 11th hour the Democrats claim that they were unaware of our position. Let me be clear, we want a balanced budget and we look forward to issuing further budget proposals.

“Prior to the rushed passage on the Assembly Floor and the premature Senate Session on the budget, significant progress was being made.

“We are pleased the Democrats ended the lockdown, now we hope that they will come back to the table and work with us to solve this budget crisis.”
