Wyland Names Carol Bonomo as the 38th Senatorial District Woman of the Year for 2008

Honor Recognizes Women Statewide for their Extraordinary Achievements

Senator Mark Wyland (R-Carlsbad) today honored 38th district constituent Carol Bonomo as the Woman of the Year for 2008. Bonomo was recognized in the annual Woman of the Year ceremony that celebrates extraordinary women up-and-down California who make a difference in their communities.

“I’m pleased to name Carol Bonomo as the 38th Senatorial District Woman of the Year for 2008,” said Wyland. “Her contributions to our county are invaluable, and I know the entire community joins me in honoring and thanking Carol for her hard work and dedication to our students.”

Clearly understanding the importance of higher education, Bonomo currently works as Director of Legislative Affairs in the President’s Office at California State University, San Marcos. As Legislative Affairs Director, she has brought students to Sacramento for a “hands on” look at the legislative process and the role of citizen involvement. She also co-authored editorials with elected student officials on improving transportation in the region. In her personal life, Bonomo is an award winning author whose published works include The Abbey Up the Hill and Humble Pie, amongst many others.

“Carol is an accomplished role model in the fields of literature, religion and higher education and is an outstanding choice for Woman of the Year,” said Wyland. “I’m honored to have a woman like Carol in our local community and look forward to her contributions for years to come.”

Senator Mark Wyland represents the people of the 38th Senate District, which includes cities in north San Diego County and the south Orange County cities of San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano.
