Letter to constituents about rebuilding after the fires
Dear Friend, Four years ago, San Diego showed its character by coming to the aid of individuals and communities ravaged by the Cedar fires. Now, our area has been ravaged yet again by an enormous firestorm causing the evacuation of half a million people and the loss of almost 2,000 structures, and unfortunately some lives. San Diegans once again demonstrated to the nation their compassion, service, and community-mindedness in the response to the wildfires of last week. We also displayed a high degree of preparation in the quick reaction of first responders and the coordinated manner in which cities, counties, and the state joined forces to save lives and property. I am extremely proud of the bravery of our firefighters and emergency personnel and in the volunteerism that has recently been on display. As with the earlier Cedar Fire, we will analyze what worked and identify areas for improvement, so that we can be even more prepared for future fires! As we begin thinking about rebuilding, I wanted to be sure that you were aware of the resources available to you from the state, insurance companies, and other sources. Please visit the special page on my website dedicated to providing you access to help you may need. The web address is http://republican.sen.ca.gov/web/38/wildfires.asp If you have further questions, please contact my district office at 760-931-2455. AVOID FRAUD DURING THE REBUILDING PROCESS After a disaster, sales people often go door to door, canvassing neighborhoods to generate new business. While many of these people are honest and reputable, some are not. We recommend checking contactor’s license numbers on the Contractor’s State License Board’s Website. Access the site by clicking here.
